Overview of Need
Pure Retirement, part of the Age Partnership Group, is a specialist later-life lending provider operating within the regulated mortgage and equity release market. The business is seeking an experienced Non-Executive Director to join its Board, providing independent oversight, governance leadership, and strategic guidance. The role is particularly suited to a senior leader with deep expertise in mortgages, lending, risk, or regulated financial services, and is expected to include chairing the Board Risk Committee. This is a key governance role within a growing and highly regulated financial services business, focused on strong customer outcomes, risk discipline, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and contribute to Board meetings (approximately six per year).
- Chair or participate in Board committees, including the Risk Committee.
- Provide independent challenge and strategic guidance to the Executive Team.
- Monitor risk exposure, regulatory compliance, and financial performance.
- Review governance frameworks, strategic plans, and organisational performance.
- Support the development of enterprise risk management practices.
- Assess customer outcomes, product suitability, and service quality.
- Ensure compliance with FCA and FSMA requirements.
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation and wider Group.
- Support Board decision-making on key strategic and operational matters.
Candidate Profile – Essential Experience
- Significant experience within mortgage lending or origination.
- Strong understanding of later-life lending, equity release, or retail financial services.
- Senior leadership or Board-level experience in a regulated environment.
- Experience in risk, compliance, governance, or financial oversight roles.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance and regulatory frameworks.
Desirable Experience
- Former CEO, CRO, or senior executive in financial services.
- Experience chairing risk committees or governance functions.
- Exposure to IPO environments or high-growth financial services businesses.
- Previous Board experience within banking, lending, or mortgage sectors.

Remuneration & Appointment
- Approximately £28,000 per annum.
- ~6 Board meetings per year plus committee commitments.
