Overview of Need
Thrive Renewables is a leading UK renewable energy investment and development organisation with over 30 years of experience funding, building, and operating clean energy projects. With a diversified portfolio spanning wind, solar, hydro, battery storage, geothermal, and heat technologies, the organisation is now entering a significant growth phase with a target to double generation capacity by 2028. Thrive is seeking two Non-Executive Directors to join its established Board, bringing complementary expertise to support the next stage of strategic expansion while maintaining its strong environmental and social purpose as a certified B Corporation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent oversight, strategic input, and constructive challenge at Board level.
- Support long-term strategic planning, growth execution, and impact delivery.
- Contribute to financial oversight, risk management, and governance excellence.
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation with investors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Support leadership development and mentoring of senior executives.
- Help guide sustainable growth aligned with environmental and social objectives.
Candidate Profile – Essential Experience
- Proven Non-Executive Director or senior executive experience (or readiness for first board role).
- Strong strategic thinking and long-term planning capability.
- Experience in one or more of: renewable energy, impact investing, corporate finance, or high-growth businesses.
- Strong understanding of governance, risk, and financial oversight.
- Experience engaging with investors, capital markets, or strategic partners.
Position 1 – Impact & Ethical Entrepreneurship
- Experience in purpose-led or impact-focused organisations.
- Strong understanding of sustainable finance and impact investing.
- Networks within renewable energy, social investment, or impact funds.
- Experience in strategy, innovation, or stakeholder engagement in mission-led businesses.
Position 2 – Corporate, Commercial & Finance
- Senior corporate, financial, or commercial leadership experience.
- Experience supporting capital raising and growth strategy execution.
- Strong governance, audit, and risk management capability.
- Background in listed companies, investment funds, or high-growth organisations.

Remuneration & Appointment
- £17,500 per annum.
- Approx. 12–15 days per year.
- Quarterly Board meetings (Bristol / hybrid).
