Overview of Need
The Family Office oversees a diversified portfolio of 45 privately held UK businesses spanning manufacturing, professional services, technology, property, and consumer markets. To strengthen governance, strategy, and value creation, it is appointing a Portfolio Advisory Network of Non-Executive Directors. Each NED will be aligned to one or more portfolio companies based on sector expertise and strategic fit, while also contributing to cross-portfolio insight, collaboration, and long-term value creation across the group.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide independent challenge and strategic oversight to management teams and Boards.
- Review and refine business strategies, investment priorities, and performance plans.
- Identify growth opportunities, synergies, and efficiency improvements across portfolio companies.
- Strengthen governance, risk management, and operational discipline.
- Act as a mentor and sounding board to CEOs and senior leaders.
- Support leadership development, succession planning, and talent attraction.
- Contribute market insight, networks, and commercial best practice.
Candidate Profile – Essential Experience
- Entrepreneurial background as a founder, investor, or senior leader who has built, scaled, or exited a business.
- Experience in growth, transformation, or change within dynamic environments.
- Background in one or more of: strategic growth, PE/VC investment, M&A, operational excellence, digital/technology leadership, organisational development, or market strategy.
- Experience with family-owned, founder-led, or privately held businesses is highly desirable.
- Strong ability to operate across multiple businesses and stakeholder groups.

Remuneration & Appointment
- Competitive annual retainer plus expenses and meeting fees.
- Additional remuneration may apply for project work, mentoring, or chairing responsibilities.
- Initial term: 2–3 years, renewable by mutual agreement.
- Time commitment: Approximately 12–20 days per annum, including quarterly Board meetings and Advisory Network sessions.
